Ina Garten Honey White Bread

Ina Garten’s Honey White Bread is a classic homemade loaf made with flour, yeast, milk, butter, and honey. The honey adds a natural sweetness, while the butter provides a rich, moist texture. This bread is easy to make, requires minimal ingredients, and is perfect for everyday use.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour or bread flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)

Instructions

  • Activate the yeast – In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and honey. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • Combine ingredients – In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Add the melted butter and yeast mixture.
  • Knead the dough – Knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Let it rise – Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  • Shape the dough – Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  • Second rise – Cover and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven – Set to 375°F (190°C). Brush the top with egg wash for a golden crust.
  • Bake the bread – Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  • Cool before slicing – Let the bread cool on a wire rack before cutting.
