Ingredients

  • Red wine: 1 bottle (750ml), such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, or Rioja.
  • Brandy: 1/4 cup, for depth and warmth.
  • Orange juice or apple cider: 1/2 cup, for sweetness and a touch of fall flavor.
  • Apples: 2, thinly sliced.
  • Pears: 2, thinly sliced.
  • Orange: 1, thinly sliced.
  • Cinnamon sticks: 2, for a warm, spiced aroma.
  • Cloves (optional): 4-5, for additional spice.
  • Sparkling water or club soda (optional): To top off for some fizz.
  • Honey or simple syrup: To taste, if you prefer a sweeter sangria.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Fruits

  • Thinly slice the apples, pears, and orange. Remove seeds if necessary.

Step 2: Combine Ingredients

  • In a large pitcher, combine the red wine, brandy, orange juice or apple cider, and prepared fruits.
  • Add the cinnamon sticks and cloves (if using).

Step 3: Sweeten and Chill

  • Taste the mixture and add honey or simple syrup if desired for additional sweetness.
  • Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours, or overnight for the best flavor.

Step 4: Serve and Garnish

  • Before serving, stir the sangria well and taste again to adjust sweetness if needed.
  • Pour into glasses filled with ice, ensuring each serving includes some of the fruit slices.
  • If desired, top with a splash of sparkling water or club soda for fizz.
