Ina Garten Waldorf Salad Recipe

Ina Garten Waldorf Salad

Ina Garten’s Waldorf Salad is a delightful mix of sweet apples, crunchy celery, juicy grapes, and toasted walnuts, all tossed in a creamy mayonnaise-based dressing. It is served over crisp lettuce leaves, adding freshness and elegance to the dish. Her signature touch of lemon juice brightens the flavors and keeps the salad vibrant.

Ingredients

  • Apples: 2 medium, preferably Gala or Honeycrisp, cored and chopped.
  • Celery: 2 stalks, thinly sliced.
  • Grapes: 1 cup, halved (red or green).
  • Walnuts: 1/2 cup, toasted.
  • Lettuce: 4–6 leaves of Bibb or Romaine.
  • Mayonnaise: 1/3 cup.
  • Lemon juice: 1 tablespoon, freshly squeezed.
  • Salt and pepper: To taste.

Instructions

  • Prepare the apples: Core and chop the apples into bite-sized pieces. Toss them with lemon juice in a large bowl to prevent browning.
  • Slice the celery: Thinly slice the celery stalks into even pieces and add them to the bowl.
  • Halve the grapes: Cut the grapes in half and add them to the bowl with the apples and celery.
  • Toast the walnuts: In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the walnuts for 2–3 minutes until fragrant. Let them cool and then add to the salad.
  • Make the dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Combine the salad: Pour the dressing over the apple mixture and toss gently to coat all the ingredients evenly.
  • Serve and enjoy: Arrange the lettuce leaves on a serving platter, spoon the salad over the lettuce, and serve immediately.
